Ro’s Morning Tea – done and dusted!

Meet Rose-Marie Hillier.
I love holding Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Teas because we all come together with a common purpose, to raise necessary funds for cancer research, and to celebrate life over adversity. This year we laughed so much because we had to model our funkiest, oldest, and most chic aprons and prizes were awarded for the best in those categories. What fun we had. Love the morning teas because it’s when we can enjoy the company of our neighbours, friends, family, and work colleagues while indulging in a delicious morning tea. I read out my list of those close to me who have been affected by cancer and everyone is always shocked at the tally. Dear friend, Gary Johnston, founder of Jaycar Electronics, who succumbed to cancer in March this year, was number 41 — a wonderful man, a truly great philanthropist and someone who delighted in being able to help those less fortunate.

My morning tea was a huge success. About 20 women, all up for some fun. I doubled my target. Thrilled. I think I received well over $1,000 on my fundraising page and I at least doubled that on the day of the morning tea.
